Summer Kokedama Plant Care!

Summer Kokedama Plant Care!

Do kokedamas need a bit more care in the summer months?

With the summer sunshine and heat being in full force, it's really important to make sure your kokedamas are thriving by giving them just a little extra care! Kokedamas tend to dry out much quicker with warmer weather, which can lead the moss to go brown and leaves to die.

But do not fear, here are a few top tips to keep your kokedamas happy and healthy throughout summer!

Watering:

Our homes can get a lot more sun and much warmer during the summer, meaning our kokedamas are more likely to experience overly dry moss which can go brown.

To prevent this from happening, we encourage that you soak the moss more regularly. to spot when your plant needs watering , just pick the kokedama up, and if it feels light, it definitely needs a good soak! Other signs that your plant needs watering are wilting or curling leaves.

We also recommend misting your kokedamas in between watering to give them that extra care.

Plant Placement:

Kokedamas make a lovely addition to the home, whether that's in your kitchen, living room or bedroom. But having your kokedamas in an area with lots of heat can be too much for them in the summer months.

Moving your plants to a cooler place that still gets lots of natural light will help them to thrive throughout summer. It prevents them from drying out too quickly and keeps those leaves looking luscious. Moss prefers shade, so moving your kokedama will stop moss from going brown too!

Pruning:

If you give your kokedamas the extricate they need throughout summer, they will thrive. This could lead to their leaves growing quite a bit!

We recommend that you prune leaves to help your kokedamas keep a lovely shape and look tidy. Pruning wilted leaves will also keep your plants healthy and happy.

Checking on your plants more regularly over the summer months will help to ensure they thrive and that you have your kokedamas to enjoy for a long time!
